Community Education Program

The Community Education Program is part of East Bay Herbals' mission to provide accessible and relatable information about herbal medicine to the community.  All classes are free or low-cost and are open to the public. In light of the current health climate we will be working to provide our community with a variety of low-cost and free educational materials throughout the Covid-19 crisis through our website, social media, and online offerings.

 

Herbal Wellness Series (3-Part Series)

A four-week course on how to begin incorporating everyday herbalism into your life. We will cover the basics of herbal medicine, natural remedies for common ailments, and ways to begin using herbs in your home and kitchen. This class will include virtual lessons on simple medicine making skills each week, leaving you with the tools needed to start making and using herbal medicine with yourself and your family right away! Local participants will have the option to pick up herbal supplies in Martinez. Long distance participants will have the option to have their supplies shipped  (choose 'distance learner - ship herbs') or supply their own (choose 'distance learner - supply own').

Many of our most common kitchen herbs and spices are not only powerhouses in the medicinal world but easy to grow in your garden. We will cover the definition of herbal medicine, the basics of planning a pollinator-friendly herb garden, and will focus on herbs that are easy to grow in pots and raised beds. This class includes local recommendations on where to purchase plants and will also discuss ways to enjoy your new herb garden

Medicinal Herb Walk w/ Save Mount Diablo

Mitchell Canyon Staging Area / Clayton, CA / Mt. Diablo

 

Saturday May 1st, 2021 / 10:00 - 12:00 am / Free!

Join us for a meander around the base of Mount Diablo to explore the medicinal plants growing along the trails at Mitchell Canyon. We will talk about the modern-day uses of the plants we see and discover some of the diversity that this abundant ecosystem holds. The walk will begin in the native plant garden at the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center, where we will start our journey into the world of local medicinal herbs and their wonder/magic.

 

*There will be a $6 park entrance fee*
